Learn more about our programs
Every decision we make is based on meeting needs, we provide a level of support consistent with each individual's needs. We do not have a one size fits all system. Since people with disabilities require different levels of support, we tailor our programs to meet their varied goals toward gaining independence. To provide these custom supports, New Vista offers eight different programs:
Group Home
Group homes offer a 24-hour presence with live-in, dedicated staff to assist individuals with life skills training, medical appointments, and varied social and recreational activities. There are typically 6 supported individuals in each home.
Intensive Supported Living Arrangement
ISLAs support individuals that are medically frail or have deeper social challenges. They maintain 24-hour, awake staff that supervise daily medication and dietary restrictions and also trains in multiple areas. There are typically no more than 4 supported individuals in each home.
Transitional Supported Living Arrangement
TSLAs support individuals that want to be more independent by providing a positive environment and programs that ensure optimized health and wellness. This setting has reduced staff involvement.
Supported Living Arrangement
SLAs offer the least restrictive living arrangement for supported individuals that have demonstrated they are ready to further their integration into the community.
Destination Discovery
Considered a respite program, Destination Discovery improves the health and happiness of individuals with disabilities by providing healthy activities and interaction with the community while providing respite to their primary caregivers. Destination Discovery offers local group outings, overnight trips, and even week-long excursions. We believe in peer experiences, educational, and fun opportunities in many different settings. This allows supported individuals to build friendships and lifelong relationships as a way to be included in their community.
Thrift Store
Voted Best Thrift Shop by the Las Vegas Review-Journal The Best of Las Vegas poll, the Emporium sells products donated by the community to provide funding towards all programs. The store also provides the opportunity for supported individuals to learn about work ethics and being a successful employee.
Youth Program
New Vista strives to protect the welfare of children at risk in numerous ways, depending on the situation of the child and his or her relationship with the family. Support can range from limited hours per month to 24-hour, awake residential programs. The ultimate goal is to help children and their families learn the skills that will enable them to return home or to their communities successfully.
Job Development Training
JDT provides liaison services and coaching between individuals and companies to create partnerships that provide minimum wage or higher-paying employment for individuals with intellectual challenges.
